Nightshade Is a Changling, But Is an Exile by self-election and Does not Conform to the Lifestyles of the Swarm. She is one of a very few Changlings that decide that the Regular Pony lifestyle is far more Desirable than the general Parasitic nature of the swarm majority. The Love she Feeds on does not come in anywhere near the amount that most changlings devour in a sitting, but rather comes from the Pure love of others for Her and not somepony she is pretending to be. In this way she remains well nourished and strong, without having to live in a way that she might find objectionable.

Nightshade, Though a Changling, Likes to Retain the Facade of a Unicorn that she Fashioned after the Flower her Name Comes from. The Majority of her Body is a light shade of Purple, the only exception being the Yellow Fur she forms just above her hooves for a few inches, that fade quickly to the light purple. Her mane Begins White at the Base, But Quickly Changes to a Purple that is only just barely noticable as being darker than the rest of her coat. The Cutie Mark She Presents shows The Nightshade Flower, with a Yellow Center Surrounded By 5 vibrant Purple Petals with White Bases.

Because it has no Real Meaning, Nightshade has Rationalized a story for anypony that asks about her Cutie Mark, Saying that it represents her Love for Plants and Botany. However, on a personal level she chose that for a cutie mark because she knows that beneath her Facade, she is considered an Extremely Dangerous and Deadly Creature, at least by other ponies. It is for this reason the chosen cutie mark is her namesake.

Because her Facade Does not use her wings, Nightshades wings are weaker than they perhaps should be as a result of sparse usage, with slight atrophy in the associated muscles. She can still fly, but She Flies noticably slower than other changlings without assistance from her magic.

From Youth, Nightshade's Parents attempted to teach her to the best of their abilities, and they knew that the Swarm as an entity did not always choose the best path, did not always do what may have been right, but instead chose a path of Survival at all Costs.

Nightshade's Father died while she was a Filly, and She only has a few Memories of Him before his Passing, Among them some Talks about life lessons and things that are important. He Had been a Squad Captian in the Military, and on an Expedition with his Squad of 4 other Changlings, they were surprised by an unusually large pack of Timber Wolves, numbering 9 by the reports. 1 of the Changlings Died immediately, being the one the wolves ambushed, But he Managed to alert the Others to the Dire Situation Before being Dragged into the Darkness and Silenced. One other Changling was Injured, But Nightshade's Father Freed him. In the End they managed to Kill 4 of the 9 Wolves as they Retreated to the Nearest Military Camp. Just outside the Encampment they became surrounded by the remaining 5, and in a valiant effort to protect those he was responsible for, he Jumped into the Fray, Killing 2 More including the Alpha before They managed to Bring Him Down. He was Dragged away and rushed inside the Camp, but unfortunately he had lost too much blood and the camp Medic did not have the Necessary materials to Keep him alive long enough to get back to a more powerful Healer.

Nightshades Father's Name was Mephitic, Which fit how other Changlings viewed his "Too Often" kind and compassionate Nature. Though Physically strong, and Undeniably Powerful as an Individual, He was often viewed as a weakling or something similar because of his Good Nature.

Though nopony is aware of this, they had been following an order to search for "Anything Unusual" in a given area, which was actually an order given by the then High Ranking Gympie-Gympie, within Months of his Forced exile. Which is partly why they were on foot instead of Airborne. The Thickness of the Trees in the Forested Swamp Prevented them from Making an escape to the air, which contributed greatly to the associated damages and losses.

Nightshades Mother Lived Until Nightshade was almost 14 Years old before She was Accused of Treason against the queen. Before she was taken to what Nightshade Later found out was A death sentance, She ensured that Nightshade made a well equipped escape accross the Border into equestria with the assistance of the Wise Manchineel, an Old Family Friend Positioned in the Upper Courts of the Changling Kingdom. Nightshade has Many fond memories of her Mother bringing her up in the Absence of Her father, and it was during this time that she came to realize the Wrongs of the Changling Swarm against the rest of Pony Kind. However, For fear of Ostracism, Niether Nightshade nor her mother ever spoke of these things outside their home, and only ever with Manchineel.

Nightshades Mother's Name was Pernicious Allure.

During the First Month in her Exile, Nightshade survived in Wooded areas, living off of Small animals, until Finally she could not Resist her natural Draw to a nearby Pony Village. This would become the first time she would use her Shapeshifting ability for survival. Her Plan Backfired of Course, as She Forgot To develop a Cutie Mark, which drew Suspicion and Attention. So she quickly disappeared into the Forest again to Rethink Her Strategy. While Thinking she found a small group of Flowers that happened to be Her Namesake, which inspired the Facade she came to Wear almost every day from then on. Not Comfortable with the normal method of aquiring love for a Changling, she decided that she could take one more day to observe the Ponies from afar, in order to see how Love was Taken From pony to pony. It was then that she learned that Ponies did not Take Love, It was freely Given to those Deserving of Love.

So from that time on she Decided to be a Lovable Person. She Came into Town as a Wanderer, just passing through for a short time, and Did everything she could to Make Ponies Love Her. She may have been a little Overzealous, as it Caused several awkward Conversations with Stallions and colts that though they Clearly Loved Her, they Did not "Catch Her Eye". In Fact a few of them wouldn't have been able to catch her eye with a net lined with glue. But The Interactions she had fed her enough to return to the woods. In order to Prevent any Accidents, She Moved on from that small town.

And thus, in her mind, began Her Life of Exile, Which would contain more crazy adventures than anypony would want or expect.
